Short but good menu, mainly fish. Unpretentious restaurant but I ate only grilled fish for a week, very good. Fair price for the location. Very good coffee and tonic wine!😉Very friendly people

Barca Alegre in Monte Gordo is one of those rare gems you feel lucky to discover – right on the beach, relaxed and authentic, with honest food and a truly welcoming atmosphere.

We had sole, perfectly cooked – the white, delicate flesh was moist and flaky. The grilled prawns were equally excellent, served in a rich butter sauce with fried garlic and lemon, full of flavour and finesse.

Sides were simple but spot on: a fresh salad with quality olive oil and just a touch of salt, plus perfectly crisp fries. We started with classic green olives – plain but high-quality and tasty.

Behind the scenes, it’s the chef’s wife who prepares the food – and you can taste the care and love in every bite. Meanwhile, the chef and the rest of the team provide warm, attentive service with a genuine smile. They treat guests like friends, not customers.

One morning, after a run and a swim, we stopped by just for two coffees and some sparkling water – with no cash or phone on us. Their response? A warm smile and: “No problem – just come back later.” That kind of trust and kindness is incredibly rare these days – and it truly stayed with us.

Bonus tip: The coffee is excellent throughout the day, and beers and drinks are always cold and generously served.

We’ll absolutely be back – and can’t recommend Barca Alegre enough if you’re looking for great food, genuine hospitality, and that special kind of place that feels like summer itself.

Everyone is warmly welcomed. This place is relaxed and less commercial than other restaurants on the boardwalk.
