Aside from the beach itself, the Carvoeiro Boardwalk is one of the main free attractions in Carvoeiro and an excellent way to experience the dramatic Algarve coastline.
There is a convenient parking area right at the start of the boardwalk, which helps you avoid the steep climb up from the village below. When we visited in early March the atmosphere was peaceful, making it a wonderful place for a relaxed walk along the cliffs.
The views are impressive, with rugged rock formations and the Atlantic stretching out below. It’s also a great spot to watch the small boats that pass along the coast.
The boardwalk is clean, well maintained, and free to access. The path is fairly gentle and not too steep, making it a good option for visitors with mild mobility challenges who still want to enjoy the scenery.

Amazing views. Go past the end of the boardwalk on the east, past the restaurant (which may be closed due to season), through some bushes, you’ll see the path others have carved, and you can walk on the rocky cliffs for another while, at the end of which you will find a gigantic cave that you can see from the cliffs ( photo attached) Go explore and adventure!

Best walkway ever! The views are stunning and we loved all the stairways to explore the caves along the way. The town and beach in Carvoeiro are also lovely.

Go with a hat, running shoes and with water if you are there at the summer. Amazing view, easy difficulty, but be careful with the heat. Enjoy the atmosphere and take breathtaking photos!
