Came here twice in one week. First time I got the sea bass, the portions are very generous, simple but still very yummy. Second time I got the piri piri chicken and again, I cannot fault the portion sizes and the taste of the charcoaled chicken was delicious. I recommend this place 100% (and I’m very fussy)

This is, without doubt, the best restaurant in Cabanas de Tavira. And this is not an impulsive opinion based on one visit or a single dish. I have been coming here for the past 13 years, so there is some perspective behind my words.

It is a traditional Portuguese family restaurant – something that is becoming increasingly rare, as so many places now adapt to trends and lose their unique character. The menu is short, limited to a few types of fish (depending on the catch of the day) and meats. But the way the fish or meat is grilled here is simply epic! You have to try it to understand that grilling is an art, not just the mindless flipping of food from one side to the other. Sardinhas, robalo, ferreira, sargo, anchova… every single dish is worth trying.

With the fish, you’ll usually find potatoes (boiled or fried) and favas (broad beans) as side dishes – a brilliant idea that makes the meal complete. And then there is the soup, which could well be a reason to come on its own. At Europa, there is a different soup every day, but always a perfect example of what a soup should taste like: freshly cooked, made with fresh vegetables. Whether it’s sopa de legumes, sopa de cenoura (carrot soup), or any other variety, each one is a small masterpiece of flavor.

The service is always friendly, polite, and helpful – with the owners themselves present in the dining room.

I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant and encourage everyone to visit.

Far and away the best meal my wife and I have had in Cabanas in the three winters we have been here. I had grilled Sole and my wife grilled sea bass. They were done perfectly. Greeted and served by the owner himself. We will be back again soon!

Where do I start? It’s a no frills restaurant, is full of anticipation. The atmosphere can’t be distracted as everyone is fired up for a great dinner. The old guy his roll is top cheese on the bbq , he splits chickens and lays out the ribs and it smell awesome. I had a mixed grill which was guaranteed by anup (the young keen waiter) to be the best in town and I didn’t need to try the others to know he must be right. Wow . So much flavour and mixed with crisp lettuce and delicious Mediterranean tomatoes the size of tennis balls! All washed down by a lovely warm red wine with an oaky taste . Finished by a moroccan coffee. Get in there it’s to die for . What a place to be Cabanas . Amazing . Today I went on the hunt to see if I could buy a fixer upper in the town but even a derelict house is 300 k. Oh well . Will definately come back.

We have a winter holiday in Cabanas every couple of years, and always enjoy a meal at Europa. This family run restaurant serves no-frills home cooking. The service is friendly and the value for money is very good. It never lets us down.
