One of the most beautiful hikes we did in Madeira. It definitely makes our top 10 list. Pros are: it’s almost always sunny in Paul do Mar and it’s very warm compared to the Picos during winter/ spring season. There’s a beautiful waterfall and some stunning cliff views down towards Paul do Mar and Jardim do Mar.
We did a 3 hour tour, hiked up from the Paul do Mar Port and then towards Miradouro da Raposeira and then a back down at the front end of Paul do Mar and back along the seaside promenade to close the loop.
I can highly recommend it for somewhat experienced hikers.

This hike will keep you present every step of the way. The path zigzags around the cliff to reveal amazing waterfall and sea views. I suggest proper hiking shoes and walking stick. It starts at the Porto de Paul do Mar. You will find the beginning of the path at the left side of the Porto. There is a concrete staircase that leads you up towards the cliff.

The descent and the ascent are experiences you have to live through. You absolutely must do both — they give two completely different feelings, and I highly recommend both
