A lovely mixture of old and new, with modern hotels, apartments and a sandy beach that stretches for miles in one direction reaching out from a gem of an old town, one side precariously perched on the cliffs with an imposing monolithic elevator and steep snaking footpath linking it to the beach below, with narrow and in some cases steep streets and alleys that can only be negotiated by foot all in someway linked or leading to an open square surrounded by traditional buildings and architecture, the streets lined with small shops, bars and cafés, the people seemed friendly and welcoming this coupled to a relaxed atmosphere made for a very enjoyable visit.

Lovely beach but bring an umbrella! True vendors leave you along too which is a plus. The boat with a slide is 20 an hour which is a bargain!

just a rock! but a useful meeting point
At the end of the day, it's a rock! but it's photogenic and a useful meeting point right on the beach at the bottom of the stairs and escalator

Beautiful
This is a beautiful rock formation on the beautiful beach ,its very photogenic, best views are from the viewing platform overlooking the beach ,its a rock that is most definitely a natural landmark and most definitely well worth checking out if you're planning a holiday to Albufeira.

Who put that there?
A large rock situated on Praia de Peneco, that you get a good view of if you descend to the beach in the beach lift. It currently has barriers around it, presumably to stop people climbing it. Makes an interesting article on the beach but it clearly isn’t the most exciting thing in Albefuira

This is a real icon of Albufeira, the lone rock on the beach, and there's a great viewpoint just behind it, at the beach elevator

Odd rock obelisk
This tall, standing rock formation sits alone on the beach, adjacent to the Peneco viewing platform. It looks a bit like a small rock-berg, floating over the sand.Nice.
