Gorgeous views. A bit of a hike but the steps make it easier.

Amazing coastal viewpoint with volcanic history!
Pico Matias Simão is a scenic volcanic cone on Terceira’s north coast, formed by strombolian eruptions. From the top (153 m), you get breathtaking views of the Atlantic and even the island of Graciosa on clear days.

It’s part of the Azores Geopark and a great example of a spatter cone, with unique lava formations shaped by wind and sea. You’ll also find a native forest at the summit and may spot Cory’s shearwaters nesting in the cliffs.

There’s a historic cross (Cruzeiro) built in 1940, and the spot was once used for whale watching. A must-stop for nature lovers and geology fans!

Beautiful viewpoint. A nice hike up. You can visit the village of Altares, see the Imperio, have a nice meal (alcatra) in the restaurant and then walk up to this viewpoint :)

We ate very well in this typical trattoria, courteous waiters, open kitchen where you see the cooks working, environment nothing big just a few tables of two on the street. We chose the Catalan monkfish, clams, mussels and shrimp that we loved, our children chicken skewers and hamburgers (not sandw…

The food was ok, the service friendly. Unfortunately, we should end up paying for an appetizer (billed once for 2 people each) that we had not ordered. We just thought it was a gesture from the house. Billing 6,00€ without even mentioning it is already audacious. So, watch out, appetizer's not on t…

My wife and I went there three times this week. I usually eat fish very rarely, but when the waiter showed the fresh fish at the table, I simply had to order the tuna steak. It was just the right decision! Very delicious and incredibly cheap. The next day I chose the swordfish and was completely sa…

Had a lovely evening at this restaurant. Staff very welcoming and friendly. The food is traditional Portuguese fare, as is the decor, great quality all round. We had the monkfish cataplana which was delicious, I could even eat a plate of those sliced potatoes on their own! I liked the open kitchen,…
