Free parking along the side of road, but very busy. Good paths and wooden decking on the section we walked. Stunning cliffs and views of the sea, but extremely windy. Only did a short distance. Lots of people, very popular. No toilets, but a couple of snack wagons on turning circle.

An extremely beautiful place. The hike is easy to medium difficulty, constant ups and downs, stairs and rocks. If you choose a nice weather window, it's really recommended to visit. There's many viewpoints and stops with what I think are the best views on Madeira.

In my opinion is the easiest trail on the island. Please make sure you book and pay before you arrive, only online on Simplifica, the fee is 4,5 E / person, under 12 years is free. It can be crowded on some section but it is enough space for everyone. The trail is easy, walkable just to make sure you have proper shoes (no sandals or flip-flops), the nature is breathtaking, can be very windy, the waves crushing both shores, is something you have to see. At the end of the trail is small coffee shop, you can have a tasty bite and a good coffe to recharge for the way back. The parking is free but gets crowded very quickly and if there is not enough space, policemen helps you park near the road without any fee.

This is a must-do to anyone coming to visit Madeira. Not only the path is quite easy, around 1h15 each side, but the views are really amazing, being able to see both the north and the south of the island. If you still have time and or strength, just behind the bar there's a way up to the top of the mountain, the way up is hard and steep, but the feeling of accomplishment when you're up there will make it worth it.

Really lovely hike!
It’s 3km each way. I’d say cardio-wise, it’s pretty easy. The hard bit was navigating the terrain, which is very rocky and uneven.
There’s gorgeous views on both sides throughout the hike. There are some detours that you can take to get to some beaches, and I saw some people even swimming at one of them.
I’d say this was probably the busiest hike we’ve been on over 5 days of hiking across the island.
Payment is €4.50 to access, and there are rangers at the beginning who check tickets.
Parking was free, and it’s large and right in front of the hike start.
There’s a cafe at the end of the 3km which serves the worst cappuccino I’ve had in my whole life. The two toilets there are €1 for access, and there were big queues when I went. There’s a gross looking chemical toilet at the beginning of the trail for €2. Not that I’d ever recommend peeing on a trail (wink), but there really isn’t many places to hide anywhere.
