A haven for surfers and surf enthusiasts, Praia da Empa is a small, rocky beach in Ericeira, renowned for its ideal surfing conditions and natural beauty.

Part of the Ericeira World Surfing Reserve, it boasts two remarkable waves: Pedra Branca and Reef, which attract surfers and bodyboarders year-round. The beach is characterized by its rocky shoreline and narrow strip of sand, and often remains virtually deserted, except for a few surfers and bodyboarders. At low tide, large natural pools form, offering opportunities to observe marine life. The beach lacks amenities such as lifeguards, showers, equipment rentals, and shops, thus preserving its pristine natural environment.
