Remember as a kid visiting Madeira, the taxi would always stop under the waterfall to get a free wash. Today : its on everyone's bucket list.
We used to walk every morning from Ponta Do Sol to Madalena Do Mar Waterfall.
Fantastic walk along the seafront. Outdoors : cant ask for anything more.
Parking from the other side is hectic, better to take a nice brisk walk from Ponta Do Sol side.

The Madalena do Mar Beach is pebbly, and while I generally prefer sandy shores, they’re a rarity on the island of Madeira. Nevertheless, this is one of our favorites for several reasons: it boasts an extensive, always flat promenade—perfect for leisurely walks; ample and free parking (uncommon in the island’s tourist areas where parking is often paid); a small playground for children; two outstanding bars and restaurants, such as Bar Dona Maria, Casa de Pedra, and Restaurante Moreia, making it an excellent choice for lunch or dinner; a truly breathtaking view; and, not least, it’s a clean area.
