We had just parked the car and felt the urge to sit on the sand at Praia de Peniche de Cima, watching surfers glide over the waves with nothing but the sound of the ocean around us. It was incredibly peaceful on this long, beautiful beach. One of those moments when I caught myself thinking, I really wish I knew how to surf!! Who knows, maybe next time!

Fantastic beach. Clean sand and crystal clear water. Abundant with shells. Fantastic for surfing or body boarding. Overnight free camping available right next to the sand. Free showers next to the cafe. Quiet and not too busy.

Go if you love dunes! We decided to stop here because there was parking and the dunes looked cool. Didn't walk all the way down to the water, but it was still very cool to climb the dunes and take in the view of the surfers from up high. Worth the detour!
