This stunning, unspoiled beach is located in the town of Peniche, and its rugged coastline is characterized by unique rock formations, dramatic cliffs, and stretches of golden sand that contrast majestically with the deep blue of the ocean.
Thanks to the consistent waves generated by the Atlantic currents, it's an ideal spot for surfing and bodyboarding, with several surf schools nearby allowing beginners and professionals alike to enjoy the waves in a beautiful setting.
The beach is nestled in a small bay protected by cliffs that shield it from strong offshore winds. This creates a calmer microclimate where you can fully enjoy the sea without being constantly exposed to the harsher elements often found along this coast.
The cliffs around Praia do Portinho da Areia Norte are composed primarily of limestone and display geological strata visible to the naked eye. Their imposing size and irregular contours bear witness to millions of years of erosion by wind and sea, making this place a veritable open book on the region's natural history.
Furthermore, the clear waters and underwater rock formations make this beach an excellent spot for scuba diving. Divers can explore diverse marine ecosystems teeming with ocean flora and fauna, from colorful anemones to exotic fish. Local dive centers offer guided excursions as well as courses for those wishing to improve their diving skills.

Magnificent view! However the swimming there is probably tricky as the bottom is so rocky.

An absolute gem of a beach with lovely cliff top for watching the sunset!
The cliffs themselves and the stones within are also truly magical to look at with the moon rise in one direction and the sunset in the other! 😍
The sand on the beach is also very lovely, but cold sea! 😁

Finest place in Peniche. One can just walk in, relax or surf or hop on a ferry to a nearby Island. Easily accessible from Lisbon via bus too

Great place for pictures. You can stay on the sand and enjoy the view but not sure if you are able to swim between the rocks.
