Restaurante Estrela do Mar

This is a traditional Portuguese beach bar, and it’s very popular with locals. Be patient, register you’re in the queue by writing name and group size, wait and you’ll get a table, nice food and decent service. It feels manic but it’s organised chaos :) I had sardines and they were freshly caught and freshly cooked. The shrimp curry is also a must try. This is a very good fish and seafood restaurant right on the beach in Armação de Pêra. You can sit inside or out, in the sun or in shade.
The menu is wide ranging and offers a good choice of both food and drinks.
Our meals were delicious with perfectly grilled fish and wonderful starters of fish soup and clams.
The white Sangria was yummy and the desserts looked very tempting although by then we'd eaten enough.
The staff were so friendly, chatty and helpful in a busy and very popular restaurant.
It isn't open in the evening so we had late lunches around 2pm both days and managed, just, to get a table. It's very popular as I mentioned.
Quite simply, the perfect place for a very reasonably priced and delicious lunch.

We enjoyed an amazing seafood lunch by the beach. Even though it was 1:30pm, it was full outside so we opted to sit indoors. We ordered the calamari, grilled golden bream, octopus and grilled shrimp. Everything tasted freshly cooked and the bream was a highlight as it was so meaty yet delicate. The dessert menu was mostly homemade so we tried the biscuit layered cake (similar to tiramisu), milk cake, almond tart and carob cake. Each cake was gorgeous but the milk cake was a highlight as it had a great fluffy meringue-like texture, with a lovely creamy flavour.

Fantastic!! Fresh fish, grilled well, with potatoes and salad. Good quality fresh ingredients, made well. The place is unpretentious and we were both reminded of our childhood (neither of us from Portugal!) we tried the grilled sea bass for 2, but wish we could try 2 of everything! Excellent service, great location on the beach, clean and very highly recommended!

We knew nothing about this place when we stopped in for lunch on a Saturday in late September. We were in Armação de Pêra very briefly for an afternoon boat tour and wanted to grab lunch before it started. Saw this place, stopped in for a bite. Were very quickly seated outside on their terrace, which was great as it looked right out at the lovely beach and water - perfect for lunch! This is not a fancy, upscale place and that's perfectly fine. Very casual, which is suitable and to be expected for a restaurant on the beach. The food was quite good, the drinks cold and the views excellent. Service was fast, and efficient. Husband particularly enjoyed his sea bass. Glad we stumbled upon it!
