Beautiful town and castle. Parking is a problem but they do have a large parking lot at the bottom of the hill. No so good for us with walking issues.

Ruins of the castle with intact outwalls which you can walk on for a great view both into and outside the castle. There are various information panels and drawing to give a better understanding of how the place looked like and worked in ancient times

Of all the castle's I have been to in Portugal, this is one of my favourites. The combination of portuguese and arab history makes it come alive. You can really feel that kingdoms were won and lost here.
Definitely worth a visit, along with the church next door.

A lovely castle to visit. Mainly the walls which you can walk right around and take in the magnificent views of the area, including orange and lemon groves, and of course the unusual sight of the local nesting storks. A very inexpensive attraction and such a calm and peaceful place, within a beautiful small town. If you like historic buildings/castles then you will not be disappointed.

Highly recommend this place. Only cost €2.80 for adults and kids free. Lots to explore and some fantastic views from the castle wall walk. There’s a cafe and toilets and most of the castle you can push a buggy around.
Definitely very good value for money and looked like they were improving bits when we were there. A great morning out!

A Silves Highlight.
What a place, from the moment you drive into Silves you can see this ancient and impressive sandstone castle. The admission fee is a few euros and it enables you to walk around the turrets and soak up the view. Be sure to take your time and you can see the storks and storks nests on the far side. T…

A must-see...
During our vacation in the Algarve, we also visited the small town of Silves, where many storks can be found. The main attraction is the castle, which can be visited for €2.80 per person. Fortunately, at the ticket office, we found kind people. Visiting the castle is truly worth it; you can walk al…

Nice attraction rude staff
Nice attraction. Great to be able to walk through the ancient castle.Unfortunately the woman who works the front desk put a dampener on our visit. She was on a long phone call while we waited to purchase a ticket but was able to roar at our daughter who opened the door to the castle, and told her s…

Impressive site and well worth a visit. BUT very rude woman selling the tickets
Rude, rude, rude lady selling the tickets. Demanding and aggressive - the tourist office needs to sack this person. It was the younger of the two women selling tickets this morning -never quite experienced anyone like her before in a tourist setting. The castle was quite amazing - well maintained a…

Good castle and views. Run by miserable staff.
Castle and town worth a visit but wasn't blown away.Awful busy queues and the lady serving us was incredibly miserable and rude. She was very reluctant to take card payment from us. Insisting on cash and the correct money. I only had a 10€ note. Which obviously annoyed her! And she had to then give…
