We (3 people) went to the place after reading the reviews, cause we had some tough time finding a good place that is not super expensive and at the same time was tasty.
The place is a little gem, we ordered 4 mains, 3 starters and a dessert, everything was more than good with the cheecks being the absolute top.
The host was more than welcoming and attentive!
Recommend the place with two hands if you want to get full with some good food and nice atmosphere.

Wonderful!
We were looking for somewhere away from the main tourist area and found this restaurant through Google reviews. For lunch I had the Iberian Pork strips which were sublime, my wife and daughter had the delicious Shrimp Risotto, and my son had a burger.
For dessert we had home made pannecotto and chocolate mousse.
All the plates were superb.
We visited on a Saturday lunchtime and the restaurant was quite quiet, but it allowed us time to chat with the owner Paulo about the dishes and the restaurant. It was clear to see the passion he had for this place.
If you are in Villa Real I highly recommend stepping away from the usual tourist places and seeking out "So se já! Gastro Café".
It's a hidden gem and I hope it flourishes.

Delicious food we had the pork cheeks and shrimp risotto plus Panna Cotta for dessert. Highly recommend. Friendly welcoming service - very much appreciated the detailed exploration of the Chef's offerings in English. Charming Cafe setting. Excellent experience from start to finish.

First time reviewer, third time diner here. We love So se já! From the inviting atmosphere and the cute decor to the wonderful food … everything is excellent! My husband and I came for dinner on our anniversary and had red sangria, spaghetti bolognese, and bitoque, followed by a dessert special of an apple pie a la mode. I also had a decaf meia de leite that was served with an adorable little meringue. Owner Paolo is friendly and engaging. We will return!

Lovely owner & great risotto! The food was delicious & filling & reasonably priced, the owner is incredibly friendly & hospitable, and the place has a lovely atmosphere. Would come back since they offer new dishes of the day & the owner is excited to keep the menu freshly updated. Highly recommend!
