Just off the main road, and not signposted, this fort is definitely worth a visit if nearby. Free entry, just wander in and around the interior and walls. Good views out over the bay as well.

Interesting 16th century defensive fort that you can freely explore. It has an abandoned church, and a few interesting nooks and crannies, but not all of it is accessible because it's a bit in disrepair and some areas are full of debris or just dangerous. I'm not sure why the Portuguese government hasn't taken better care of it...
