Lots of exhibits. A huge picture window with views of the battlefields. A cafe in the basement. Only accepts portuguese bank cards - so ensure you have Euros if yours isn't portuguese!

very interesting museum, where the battle of Vimeiro is perfectly documented, with didactic explanations right in the place where it occurred!!! understand what how and why things happened here.

Excellent museum covering both the battle of Vimeiro and the wider Peninsula wars.

The museum is very modern, bright with good information panels and equipment/ephemera displays.

On entry the visitor is able to view the battlefields panoramic through a raised position and large glazed windows in the museum reception area. The films and the audio guide provide just the right information to understand the lead-up and battle.

The staff/volunteers were very friendly and helpful.

Overall, a great [and cheap @ €2.00] way to spend a couple of hours learning about this decisive battle involving Portugal, Britain and France.

Excellent museum. Informative explanations on the Peninsular War, Napoleonic battle tactics and troop organisations, and the Battle of Vimeiro itself. Everything is written in Portuguese, English & French, and there is also the option of using an audio guide or watching a movie.
