My new favorite restaurant! A fantastic atmosphere, especially the open kitchen. A friendly kitchen crew who conjure up incredibly delicious dishes. It's all about seafood, which is a must in the Algarve. The value for money is excellent, and the portions are generous. That's because you're really meant to share the dishes. It's more fun and you enjoy them more. Whether it's the modern açorda, arroz de marisco, seafood risotto, or a creative dessert... everything is divine. The whole experience is rounded off by sensational, friendly, and witty service and a superb wine selection!

Thank you for two wonderful evenings.

A must-visit!!!

This is a wonderful seafood restaurant with a very laid back 1960’s decor complete with soft bosanova music. The service is impeccable and they have menus in Portuguese and English. A lovely restaurant if you want to go somewhere special in the Algarve.

We dined at Mexilhão twice during our trip to Portugal — and honestly, the only reason it wasn’t more is because we discovered it just three days before flying back to the UK. Without a doubt, this was the best dining experience I’ve ever had. The food, the atmosphere, the service — every part of it was exceptional.

The staff went above and beyond to accommodate my partner’s needs on both visits, and did so with genuine enthusiasm. You could tell they truly cared about delivering a great experience.

If you're even thinking about eating here, stop thinking and just go. It’s more than a meal. We’ll definitely be back next year.

Thank you to all the staff at Mexilhao.

What a joy and delight to have such a treat on our doorstep in Guia. Chef Kevin and his team run a seamless, open kitchen, which we have had the delight of spectating while they work on two occasions. Nothing is too big an ask of this team, as they've flexed for the dietary requirements of our large group, creating bespoke vegetarian dishes.
Nothing has been spared when it comes to the decor and ambience of the restaurant, and the waiting team are incredible.

The food... We came twice in a week and would have come a third if we had time. The kitchen always send an incredibly creative amuse bouche to the table to start your meal. The mussels are absolutely to die for, large, fresh and delicious. The tapas is varied and accompanied smaller portions of mussels well, should you wish to try more than one dish.

If you're within an hour's drive just come here. You'd be daft to miss out

This is a wonderful seafood restaurant with a Belgian twist. The owner is Belgian and the name of the restaurant “A casa do Mexilhao” means “The mussel house”.
So if you’ve ever had mussels in Brussels you will know what to expect. Excellent french fries made in classic Belgian style. Tomato stuffed with tiny shrimp in a mayonnaise based dressing is another classic Belgian dish you will find here. There are numerous other seafood options as well as some beef options including ribeye steak and pasta dishes. Great wine list. Highly recommended

In Guia, the self-proclaimed hometown of Portugal's beloved piri piri chicken, someone has had the audacity to open a seafood restaurant. A Casa do Mexilhão (the House of Mussels) plants its flag boldly in territory that smells overwhelmingly of charcoal and poultry. The space previously housed a s…
