Al-Lagar Tavira

We had a wonderful time at Al-Lagar! Spontaneous tour with Pedro who was lots of fun. Learned a lot about Portuguese wines and enjoyed the wine that came with the tour plus the additional glasses that we purchased (and a bottle as well!). Thank you Pedro!

Went on the off chance hopefully for tour and wine tasting, out of luck, it was fully booked, so advice is plan ahead.

Having said that we decided to eat there, outside. Despite it being February the weather was gorgeous.

The sommelier was extremely courteous and helpful and gave two of our party advice on the wines. He also gave us an overview of the wine company. We then chose our food which were snacks in reality, tapas.

Wine prices were very reasonable as was the food.

The wine was brought out and we were told about the grapes, taste and aromas, and we're then invited to taste.

Without exception we were all pleased with our choices.

The snacks arrived, a cheese board, meat board, sweet potato chips, tortillas, olives, hummus, guacamole and bread. All of it superbly tasting.

After our meal (had we not been driving I think we could have spent the rest of the day there!) we went to the store and bought a couple of bottles to take back to the UK.

Then the greatest of things, the cost for four glasses of wine, 6 dishes and to bottles of wine was €60. Superb value.

So you have to go, even if just for a drink and some snacks. If you want the wine tasting experience then do book.

The two members of staff who saw to our needs were friendly, courteous, helpful and the service was superb. Cannot recommend highly enough.

A very relaxing atmosphere for enjoying a glass of wine and tasty appetizers. This was our second time at the vineyard. We had previously taken the tour; it was informative and interesting. The service is excellent!

Beautiful vineyard setting. We had charcuterie and cheese platters which were really good and several glasses of wine. Price was absolutely fair. The staff were kind and friendly. Overall, a great spot for an afternoon of drinking wine and a very short/cheap uber ride from Tavira town. We even walked home, so not very far. Loved it.

On a rainy day in Tavira, we decided to come here and did not regret at all. As it is one of the biggest producers of wine in Portugal, we were a bit sceptical, but the girl who explained everything and led our tasting, knew what she was talking about. The wines were surprisingly interesting. Obrigado for bringing the sun to us on this rainy day!
