Recommend arriving around 11:30 and setting up to watch restaurants remove their stew pots from the ground around 12-12:30. Very interesting experience

Recycling, sustainability and craftsmanship have been key to surviving in these small, isolated Azorean islands over the centuries. Vegetable “fibers” have played a key role, particularly wicker which has been transformed in all sorts of baskets to be used at home, farms and to transport/sell fresh fish door to door. Visiting this magnificent and well kept property, where live demos of how to transform “fibers” were ongoing, was like a trip down memory lane.

Very unique place, definitely a must see and smell :) Entry fee 3 euros per person.

It's a really nice experience and worth visiting especially if you combine it with a hike in the magnificent park (trail starts behind the restaurant). I'd recommend coming after lunchtime, when it's less crowded with buses and tourists.
