A Praia da Ladeira apresenta um areal extenso, integrado na malha urbana de Vila do Conde.
Ao longe, a cerca de 200 metros da costa, avista-se um ilhéu de grandes dimensões.
A Norte, consoante a distribuição dos nadadores salvadores, pode existir uma zona com cerca de 100 metros de comprimento decretada como "praia não vigiada".
Na zona Sul, durante a maré baixa, formam-se pequenas poças com águas calmas nos rochedos. Por vezes, nesta área, criam-se agueiros que geram fortes correntes.
