Tucked away down a narrow dirt road after Salema (heading toward Sagres), Praia das Furnas feels like a hidden gem. Parking is limited when it’s busy, and the track down isn’t the easiest—but so worth it once you arrive.
The beach is wide, wild, and beautiful, with different sections you can explore—some only accessible when the tide is out, so be mindful not to get caught when it comes back in. There are also natural caves along the shoreline that offer great shelter from the sun.
It feels much more local and less touristy than some of the more well-known beaches nearby, which I loved. No water or facilities, so bring what you need—but it’s the kind of place that makes you want to stay all day.
Discovered it for the first time yesterday and I’ll definitely be going back. Stunning spot.

Hidden gem. Great beach, considerably large area not hit by high tide, absolutely lonely, we were alone there in the evening. Beautiful sunset. Recommended for some 🍆 🍑 on the 🏖.
