Little bit of a trek to get to but worth it, warning though make a reservation and ask for the special dishes ahead of time or else you’ll be out of luck. The meal we had was still good, we got the mixed grill which is essentially assorted cuts of pork, and the lamb chops. Both seasoned beautifully, I recommend getting the tomato salad alongside if you do decide to go this route as the freshness it adds is much needed. Be warned the two meat dishes we got were a lot and we easily could’ve gotten away with just one main. The star of the show for us was desert, there was a honey cake and a 3 ingredient tart that is local to the algarves. Both were super tasty, the tart though was very unique. It was made of carob, almond and fig. Our server was slightly cold initially but warmed up throughout the night, classic tough guy sweetheart who has a prickly demeanour but secretly means well. Definitely chat this guy up, if you’re looking to interact with a truly genuine human being. It’s a family owned joint, go and show them some love and I promise you you’ll have an awesome memorable meal.

Lovely food and fast service. I have seen comments on here by people complaining they can't get in.
My advice is very there when they open to guarantee a spot. We got here at 5 past 12 and only just got seated. After that it was a case of waiting for a table to free up.
On average we paid 20e a head. Warm Bread, Olives as usual.
1ltr red wine and 2 cokes.
4 main meals
3 desserts
3 small coffee's and a melosa
All good was cooked perfectly. No complaints here.

Amazing place with authentic Portuguese food. We had the tuna which was lovely with the vegetables and the ribs - so good! We loved it so much that we came back the next day and I had the Pernil which was just delicious. It's a small place, in summer you need to have a reservation.

A place to go worth the extra miles , one of the best restaurant I've been in Portugal. A great combination of truthful host, great ingredients cooked with knowledge and honest service. Very nice selection of starters all home made a part from the cured meats I believe. Defenetly order the/ black pig jowls perfectly cooked old style no water bath, but I believe only available during weekends. In summer ask for the tomato salad best with no vinegar and only served with EVO and herbs, you'll taste the sun. All the vegetables come from the father's owner farm. Super honest prices as you can see from the receipt. Closed on Wednesday. Best to book as it's always pretty busy.

This place is in the middle of nowhere and it's always full, mainly locals but a few tables of tourists too. People drive to go there, food is amazing. They have both local meat based and sea food dishes. I'd recommend you end your meal with a shot of mel medronho.

This place is just the best if you like meat! Start with homemade black pudding in a league of its own then big portions of perfectly cooked pig, wild boar, goat, lamb served with delicious potatoes, sometimes carrot and or cabbage. The house red wine is especially good. Service is quick and effic…

I went to the restaurant with a high expectation, because they already told me it was good. However, she gets disappointed, for several reasons, one of which is the poorly careful presentation of the dishes, another is the amount of the dose, especially the follow-up. We ate jam, the taste was reas…

Traditional food with home taste... in Marmelade. Very nice service, despite the house full and waiting to be served! All with a lot of taste, interesting location for those who want to go explore the mountain, fair price. We have to go back!

What a huge disappointment!
We had already been to Tasca do Petróleo three times and the food was always very good, always more than enough and with reasonable prices.
This year, we were celebrating our 15th anniversary of marriage and, looking back, we would have preferred eating at home.
We orde…
