An absolute gem of a restaurant with home style cooking at an amazing price. The food is fantastic - fresh, unique and wonderful made in a very cool atmosphere. Highly recommended. Get a taxi and make the most of their €5.50 bottomless red/white wine barrels.

Nicest meal we had while in Portugal. Family of 5 and we all enjoyed our meal. Almost like walking into a local family home, the hosts were extremely welcoming and were so passionate about the food that they served.

Truly great traditional Portuguese restaurant. The staff are really lovely, the food is fantastic and it has help yourself wine from the barrel which goes down far too easily. Fernando the owner is going to be your new friend. Really lovely man. Highly recommended.

The people here make you feel very welcome. We went for lunch, the menue is full of countryside offerings. Food presentation is good. Well cooked delicious food. Service top rate. Prices are a little on the higher side but justified. We have pre booked our next two visits. Highly recommended.

Very warm and welcoming restaurant! Several choices for lunch and ample self-serve wine! The food was wonderful. I had lamb chops and hubby had black pork. The staff and owners were all very welcoming and Filipe ensured we had a great experience. We will return! UPDATE. We did return and it was still amazing! Duck orange, lamb and beef cheeks were excellent! You must make a reservation as they are always busy (due to quality of food) Booked a third visit!

I would like to thank Fernando and his team for a most enjoyable dining experience. A trip to Solar is a treat for us. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal. The food was delicious and piping hot when it arrived at the table.

This is a must go to restaurant. It may be off the beaten track, however still each lunchtime it seems full, the A LA Carte evenings excellent though quieter. The choice and quality of food is very very high, and the added option of pouring your own wine from oak barrels enjoyable and innovative. …
