Dona Benta - Tasca Chique

AKN & Portimão: a love story that was born a few years ago that finally came true.

AKN had to go to Portimão when his ex Coordinator Simone promised him a trip there. Unfortunately that trip never happened.

A few days ago he finally went to one of the best beaches in the Algarve, in Portugal, where he discovered the Tavern ‘Dona Benta’.

Very good quality and cozy vibes. AKN, you know, he likes giving stars, but he cannot give 5 stars only because when he and his girlfriend ordered two plates of rice with fish 🐟 , the owner did not say that one pot was actually enough for two people. Two pots of rice were for more than 2 people.

GOOD FOOD AND NICE PLACE BUT SOMETHING WAS MISSING

Went here 3 weeks ago and had the Francesina ( meat toastie with fried egg and savoury sauce), and went again today and had the codfish dish of the chef (flaked fish, spinach and riced potatoes, baked in a cheese sauce) - both wonderful. Would highly recommend.

Excellent friendly staff who were very attentive even though they were full with a big party at another table. The food is great and the wine was lovely for just a house white. Liked the atmosphere as it’s quite small and traditional. Didn’t take the best photos of the food cos it looked so good I ate everything before remembering to grab a shot

Excellent attention, service and food.
We tasted some tapas and vinho da casa, it was all very tasty and fresh. Also the place is beautiful, traditional and comfortable.

I was just wandering around and I found this place just by accident, I googled some reviews and I tried to walk in. The place was empty, I was there with just the owner (and cook at the same time; he was preparing food in kitchen next room but I didnt smell any unwanted scents, like oil or something) and I ordered francesinha as I had heard about this food before. The meal was ready in 10 minutes and it was DELICIOUS. I have never had this meal before and I was hesitant about bread soaked in piripiri sauce but I can tell you I was mistaken. The food was 10/10, I would recommend it to everyone. I had a glass of sparkling house wine with it (idk if wine is recommended to drink with it but whatever :) ) and espresso after meal. If you are passing by, for sure stop here and try this place
