Happy's Restaurant

As others before me have said, great service, great food albeit a simple menu - which for us Brits sometimes a homely meal is appreciated. Thank you and like I said, I'll be back with the better half when we both visit next time!

Owner was fabulous! He’s quite the character! He kept us laughing and when we were seated in the middle of the restaurant (only table open) he told us he’d move us to a better table once one opened- and he did. We were fine where we were, but it was so sweet of him.

He offered us a port wine sample, on the house, at the end of the meal- even left the bottle at the table!

I got the shrimp and chicken and it was so good. Fries yummy as well. My husband got the hake fish and chips. He’d never had hake fish before and it tasted just like cod. He was happy. Generous portion sizes.

Everyone in the restaurant was British. Owner is Dutch. Place was happening every time we walked past the restaurant and we knew we had to try it!

Best meal I’ve had in as long as I can remember. Been coming here for years, but this time I found my perfect meal!

The BEST garlic bread I’ve ever had (and I’ve had a lot), gorgeous tomato soup, a totally unique and moreish take on Piri piri chicken (Indonesian-inspired), followed by fresh strawberries, cream and ice cream.

As always, we had the perfect hosts who never fail to make us feel welcome, even though this was our first visit in 20 years without my mum.

I don’t write reviews often but this is worth it. This restaurant distinguishes itself with very good food, simple tasty and local. If you are in the area don’t miss it! Expect simple and you will be amazed by the local flavours and warm welcome. We had the tomato soup and the chicken piri piri cooked in a small crockpot, the fresh fish’n chips and fresh fish crockpot. Remember, simple but tasty. Thank you Sorav and the owners (and cheffe!) By the way, the cooking is done by the owner, even better.
