Beautiful location. Staff are very nice and the food is at a very high quality and fresh.

Having spent 10 days in the Algarve travelling and eating at many different places this was without doubt our favouite dining experience. Having disemabarked from our boat tour we walked along the waterfront looking for a lunchtime snack and found this gem of a place. We tried the Octopus Torricado (toasted bread) and Muxama (Tuna) Croquettes as sharing starters. They were so delicious that we also went for Clams Bulhão Pato Style. Exquisite. The presentation of the food was very attractive- my photos don't do it justice. The service was friendly and attentive from the very kind gentleman and lady who run this establishment. A memorable lunch and highly recommended.

My wife and I ate at O Janota for Valentines with a special Valentines 4 course menu. Each dish was delicious and beautifully presented. The staff were attentive and the white wine included with the meal was exquisite. We will definitely be dining here again.

Final Night's Dinner at O Janota – Santa Luzia, Portugal

For the last night of our recent holiday we had dinner at O Janota in Santa Luzia that turned out to be a highlight of our trip. Between us, we had several of the dishes from a small but well thought out menu, including two vegetarian options (beetroot risotto and couscous tofu), the fish of the day (sea bass), and a tuna steak. Each plate was served with fresh seasonal vegetables and showcased a clear attention to detail, everything was cooked to perfection and bursting with flavour.

The owner recommended a local Vinho Verde, which turned out to be the ideal pairing. Light, crisp, and refreshing, it complemented every dish so well that we happily polished off two bottles over the course of the evening.

To finish, we tried all three desserts on the menu. While each was delicious in its own right, the cheesecake was the clear standout: creamy, rich, and perfectly balanced.

We're really grateful to the staff at O Janota for giving us such a wonderful meal and a memorable last night of a family holiday. Highly recommended if you're in the Tavira/Santa Luzia area.
