I visited the garden in the afternoon on 24 February 2026 and it provided a good place for tourists to have some rest after vewing the Belém Tower.

If you visit Portugal, from Lisbon only like 40mins by train trying to escape from the busy metropolitan city like Lisbon visit the calmer beachy side city like Belém is actually incredible experience and beautiful scenery. They have many museums and also the vastly garden and the view towards the ocean and the historical Belém Tower as well.

Beautiful place and historic monument, but it was under renovation at the time of visit, Oct 2025. No one allowed in until renovation is complete. Still close to other sites such as Momument of discovery and the monastery, worth a visit.
Historically:
Belém Tower, also known as Torre de Belém or the Tower of Saint Vincent, is a historic 16th-century fortification located in Lisbon, Portugal, that played a critical role in defending the city’s harbor, serving as both a ceremonial gateway and a protective bastion during the Age of Discoveries.
Origins and Construction Belém Tower was constructed between 1514 and 1519 during the height of the Portuguese Renaissance and exploration boom. Commissioned by King Manuel I and designed by architect Francisco de Arruda, it replaced a heavily armed ship that had guarded Lisbon’s harbor. The tower’s unique Manueline architectural style integrates Gothic, Moorish, and maritime elements, symbolizing Portugal's seafaring achievements.
