CALHOU came highly recommended and did not disappoint. We enjoyed the wood fired Parma pizza and and the Filet Steak Portuguese Style. The service was excellent and atmosphere was cozy and inviting! Watched our woos fired Pizza tossed almost tableside! We will be back!! Tha k you so much!

Wandered past this slightly out of town restaurant in Lagos during a lunchtime walk. Daughter who likes Italian food, husband and wife clamouring for traditional portugués food. Perfect, this does both.
Went back at dinner, not late, did we have a reservation 🫣. Fortunately someone hadn’t turned up so we got a table. Before we left every table was full.
When we had ordered and the food arrived we realised why. Delicious. The most beautiful steak with ham and egg. Cooked medium rare, without a hint of blood, but so soft and tender.
Watching the crew make the pizzas from our table in a wood fired oven was a dream. Skilled craftsmen at work.

Excellent first meal in Lagos. It has set the standard high for the rest of the trip.
Salada de polvo (octopus salad) entrada/entré and cataplana de peixe main. Unfortunately it left no room for the delicious looking desserts I saw go out.

Really enjoyed our meal at Calhou Restaurante. Lots of great traditional Portuguese options plus wood-oven pizzas, all at pretty reasonable prices. The octopus salad was the standout for me, salmon was great, and the cod was nice but could’ve used a little extra flavour.
It was pretty hot inside (hard to avoid given the current high temperature) but the atmosphere was still welcoming. Overall, a solid spot for a nice meal.

Truly an amazing place. I have been here twice on both of my trips to Lagos. The first time I came, I hadn't known to book a reservation in advance, but they accommodated my group still.
The service is top notch, but the food is just phenomenal. I am not a huge meat eater, but my friend persuaded me into trying the "Portuguese Style Fillet Steak" which included ham, egg, and potato slices. This easily became my favorite dish that I have tried here now.
Interestingly, they have amazing pizza here as well. You can even watch the guys cooking the pizza from the indoor eating area, which is a fun sight to see.
Wash everything down with their house red wine and you're bound to have an amazing meal. I can't wait to return on a future trip to Lagos!
