Always amazing tasty food. The stews are very tasty, would highly recommend. Everything is freshly made and home cooked. Friendly service too! Always go here when in town!

I have the fondest memories of this restaurant and their founding family!
Having spent most of my childhood holidays in Tavira, “O Virgílio” was our nominated dinner place.
The quality of the food was always superb, providing fresh organic produce (amazing tomato salad with oregano) and delicious, perfectly charcoal-grilled meat and fish (special nod to the sea bass, sea bream and my beloved pork belly slices with hand cut fries).
Over the years I have reminisced on those late night summer meals, and could still taste and remember all those flavours from those long gone summer holidays.
I have finally returned today, after many years (19!), and was delighted to see the founding family, which is still running the restaurant, with the help of the their third generation, their grandson who is now the main chef.
The quality and the menu remains the same, preserving the long lasting tradition of 30 years of experience, in the hands of the founding family, with the same welcome and generous approach to the guests.
If you ever stop by Santa Luzia, you must visit “O Virgilio”, trust me!

My favourite restaurant in the Tavira area. Understated but have delicious authentic Portuguese food. Cozy and personal atmosphere.
Their plate of the day is always a nice surprise.
My second reason for visiting Santa Luzia from Barril beach.

Virgilios is fantastic. Friendly service and the best Portuguese food. Fabulous fish and grills and wonderful home made desserts. Prices are very reasonable too.

Scammers.
Check your bill carefully. We ordered 1.5 servings, based on the waiter's advice. He wrote 1.5 servings on his pad. We had little meat but it was okay for 1.5 servings.
We were charged for 3 servings, which is double.
The waiter fled to the other end of the restaurant. Another waiter insi…

This classic restaurant was already, in fact, excellent. I do not recommend at this time. Exorbitant prices and quality is already starting to stop wanting. We ate a tamboril rice with gambas, which in addition to being very expensive, the rice had artificial seafood broth, the fish was not fresh a…

Great cleaner restaurant. Attentive service and very good food. Price quite high but worth the price.

I went back to eating lampreea that was already far from the previous quality, the same happened with cabidela rice. The old ones were unpresentable, almost puré!!!

Finally we managed to eat a good lampreia with a well-made cabidela rice!
